Traffic Slows on NH-48 Delhi-Gurgaon Route on Raksha Bandhan

Traffic slowed down significantly on the NH-48 Delhi-Gurgaon route and across several connecting arterial stretches on Friday as commuters travelled across the National Capital Region to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

Heavy vehicular congestion was witnessed along key corridors connecting Delhi and Gurgaon, with online visuals showing long queues of slow-moving vehicles on NH-48 headed towards Gurgaon. The rush led to major delays for regular commuters and people travelling to visit family members for the festival.

Apart from the Delhi-Gurgaon highway, severe traffic slowdowns were reported on the Mahipalpur flyover and near the Shankar Vihar bus stop. Commuters navigating the wider region also faced bottlenecks at the Kalindi Kunj intersection, along routes from Dabri Mor towards Dwarka, and in parts of Shadipur and Lajpat Nagar.

Frustrated motorists took to social media platforms to flag lengthy jams and call for better traffic management during festive occasions. Several travellers questioned the presence of heavy commercial vehicles on the highway during peak festive travel hours, urging authorities to implement temporary vehicle restrictions and improved planning on the busy Delhi-Gurgaon corridor.

Other commuters highlighted near-standstill conditions at major transit points, expressing frustration over being stranded for extended periods on the road during Raksha Bandhan celebrations.

According to traffic police sources, advisories had been issued for specific congested areas across the city. Traffic personnel were deployed on the ground to manage vehicle movement and regulate flow at key bottlenecks and intersections throughout the day.
