Three Bambiha Gang Operatives Deported From Malaysia Arrested at IGI Airport

In a major operation targeting transnational criminal networks, Punjab Police arrested three alleged operatives of the Davinder Bambiha gang at IGI Airport in New Delhi after securing their deportation from Malaysia in coordination with central agencies. The accused were subsequently taken to Punjab for further investigation.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jaspreet Singh alias Jas Behbal of Faridkot, and Ajay Singh and Pawandeep Singh, both from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. According to Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, all three were key Malaysia-based operatives wanted in multiple cases involving murder, extortion, explosives, and a planned hand-grenade attack in Ludhiana, with alleged links to Pakistan's ISI.
The operation was conducted by the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC) of the Counter Intelligence Wing alongside central agencies. ADGP Counter Intelligence Amit Prasad said the action followed several months of intelligence gathering and tracking. The suspects' movements were monitored before coordinated efforts led to their detention in Malaysia and subsequent deportation to India.
According to police, Jaspreet Singh travelled to Malaysia in June 2019, where he connected with a fugitive gangster and joined the Bambiha gang. He has been formally arrested in connection with the 2025 murder of Yadwinder Singh and the driver of Jeewanjot Singh Chahal alias Jugnu, a former Panjab University Chandigarh leader.
Police said Ajay Singh and Pawandeep Singh were also operating from Malaysia and allegedly tasked ground-level associates with carrying out a hand-grenade attack in Ludhiana in 2025. That attempt was foiled by Ludhiana Commissionerate Police, who arrested two associates and seized a P86 Chinese hand grenade on October 27, 2025.
The deportations occurred under the "Gangstran Te Vaar" campaign directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Punjab Police established OFTEC to track overseas fugitives and coordinate their return, and officers will now interrogate the three men regarding their overseas networks and local links.
