Three Apprehended After Cab Driver Stabbed to Death in Krishna Nagar
A 40-year-old cab driver was stabbed to death during a robbery attempt in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar on July 23. Police have arrested two men and apprehended a juvenile within 24 hours of the crime, while a search is underway for a fourth suspect.
The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of West Vinod Nagar, was found with multiple stab injuries inside his Maruti WagonR near Road No. 57 in Krishna Nagar. He was transported to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police registered a murder case at the Krishna Nagar police station and launched an investigation. Joint teams from the Krishna Nagar police station and the Shahdara district’s Special Staff solved the case using CCTV footage, call detail records, technical evidence, and local intelligence.
According to the police, the accused had consumed liquor on July 23 and planned to rob a cab driver to make easy money. One suspect, identified as Aman, allegedly arranged a knife. The group then used suspect Ayan’s mobile phone to book a Rapido cab to V3S Mall.
Near the Chitra Vihar red light, the group allegedly stabbed Kumar multiple times before driving away in his cab and dumping his body midway.
During their escape, the suspects lost control of the WagonR and rammed into another vehicle. When the occupants of that vehicle gave chase, the suspects panicked and abandoned the car near the East Azad Nagar Metro Station before fleeing on foot.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Ayan, aged 20, Sahil, aged 19, and a 17-year-old juvenile. Police revealed that Ayan was previously involved in four criminal cases involving robbery and snatching, while Sahil had a prior booking in a snatching case. Raids are currently being conducted to locate the fourth accused, Aman.
Investigators have recovered the alleged murder weapon, the blood-stained clothes of the accused, the blood-stained Maruti WagonR, mobile phones, and other incriminating material.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rajendra Prasad Meena stated that the case was cracked through a combination of technical analysis and field investigation. He added that three suspects were apprehended, crucial evidence was recovered, and efforts remain ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect.
