Swiss President Guy Parmelin to Visit Noida International Airport on October 6

President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin is scheduled to visit the Noida International Airport in Jewar on Tuesday, October 6, as part of an official state visit to India from October 5 to 7, Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL) announced.
The Jewar airport project is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss firm Zurich Airport International AG. Parmelin will inspect the site alongside an official delegation consisting of senior Swiss officials and business leaders.
During the visit, Parmelin will review the airport’s modern terminal and its business facilities, including the cargo terminal and other infrastructure arrangements. Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, additional chief executive officer of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) and the nodal officer for the airport, confirmed that the Swiss President is slated to tour the site on October 6.
This trip marks Parmelin’s second visit to India this year. He previously visited the country in February to attend the AI Impact Summit in Delhi, according to officials.
Prior to inspecting the airport, Parmelin is scheduled to hold a delegation-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 5 to deliberate on key aspects of bilateral relations and related matters. He is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honour.
Officials stated that the visit is expected to deepen economic and trade cooperation between Switzerland and India while fostering opportunities for new collaboration and investments.
Commercial passenger operations at the Jewar airport commenced on June 15, 2026, when IndiGo operated the inaugural flight from Lucknow, followed by cargo operations on June 17. Officials noted that preparations are actively underway to launch international flight operations from the terminal starting in December this year.
