Suspected Skull Found in Passenger's Baggage at Delhi Airport

Security personnel at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi intercepted a passenger on Monday after detecting what appeared to be a skull concealed inside his hand baggage during routine screening. The traveler was scheduled to fly from Delhi to Hyderabad when security officers discovered the object.

During initial questioning by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, the passenger claimed that the item was the skull of a monkey. However, the discovery initially raised suspicion among security officers that the object might be a human skull or involved in illegal wildlife smuggling and violations of wildlife laws.

Following the discovery, CISF officers transferred the passenger to the local police for further investigation. Police officials maintained that it is too early to determine whether an offence has been committed, as the precise nature of the object has not yet been established.

Speaking on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Vichitra Veer stated that a formal opinion from the wildlife department is required before any legal action can be decided.

"The opinion of the wildlife department is essential in all such matters, to establish what the object in contention is and whether carrying it amounts to a violation. Legal action, if made out, is taken accordingly," Veer said.

Police confirmed that they are awaiting the official report from wildlife authorities, and further steps will be taken based on their assessment of the object and the applicable laws.
