Six Killed After Three-Storey Building Collapses Near Saket Metro Station

A three-storey commercial building collapsed on Saturday evening on Western Marg in Saidulajab, near the Saket Metro station, leaving at least six people dead and several others injured. The sudden collapse triggered a massive rescue operation as emergency teams worked to pull survivors from the rubble of the ruined structure.
The building, which housed a coaching institute, cafes, and offices, was undergoing construction work on its upper floor when the incident occurred. According to police, the entire structure was reduced to rubble within seconds, sending a thick wall of dust and debris sweeping through the surrounding neighborhood.
The falling debris crashed directly onto an adjoining tin-shed canteen. This canteen was a popular gathering spot for students preparing for competitive medical examinations, specifically the Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) Exam. Several of the victims and injured individuals were reportedly FMG aspirants who were studying in the area.
In the moments leading up to the disaster, the canteen owner noticed the impending danger. The owner rushed back into the area to warn the students who were gathered inside the tin-shed structure, but the owner never returned and was killed in the collapse.
Footage from the scene captured the dramatic and terrifying moments of the collapse. Initially, dust could be seen billowing from the upper floors of the building while bystanders and local residents gathered outside.
Moments later, the entire three-storey structure suddenly gave way and crashed to the ground. The collapse caused immediate chaos as people standing nearby ran for safety to escape the thick, sweeping cloud of dust and debris.
Following the collapse, emergency rescue teams deployed to the site on Western Marg. Rescue workers successfully pulled multiple survivors from the debris. The area, known for hosting coaching centers, cafes, and offices, remained the site of intensive search and rescue efforts as officials assisted the injured.
