Seelampur man arrested in Moradabad for stabbing wife to death with scissors

A 52-year-old man was arrested near the Moradabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh three days after his wife was found murdered at their residence in Seelampur, Delhi. The suspect, identified as Salim, had fled across multiple cities to evade police capture after allegedly stabbing his 45-year-old wife to death with a pair of scissors.

The victim was discovered in a pool of blood at her home in Seelampur on Thursday evening. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Following the incident, Salim went missing, which prompted the police to name him as the prime suspect.

To track Salim down, the police formed multiple investigation teams. These teams scanned CCTV footage and analysed technical evidence, which revealed that the suspect was constantly changing his locations to avoid being caught.

According to the police, Salim initially traveled to Anand Vihar in Delhi. He then crossed into Uttar Pradesh, moving through Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, and Lucknow. He eventually returned to Moradabad, where he was apprehended near the railway station, about 160 kilometres away from the crime scene in Seelampur.

During interrogation, Salim confessed to the murder. He told the police that his wife, who was employed at a garment factory, was having an affair with a colleague. This situation had reportedly led to frequent arguments between the husband and wife.

Salim stated that a heated argument broke out over the suspected affair on Thursday. In a fit of rage, he repeatedly stabbed his wife with a pair of scissors and fled the house.

Following information provided by the accused during his interrogation, the police successfully recovered the scissors used in the murder, along with the blood-stained clothes he wore during the incident. Police officials noted that Salim has no prior criminal record.
