Saurav Das Slams PM Modi Over 'Dimagi Naxal' Independence Day Remarks

Cockroach Janta Party chief spokesperson Saurav Das has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for using the term "dimagi Naxals" during his Independence Day address delivered from the Red Fort in New Delhi.

Speaking from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India's 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi stated that armed Naxalism was nearing its end in the country. However, the Prime Minister warned of people with what he termed a "dimagi Naxal" mindset who he said were actively looking for opportunities to create violence and unrest. Modi stated that such individuals needed to be identified and isolated, while young people should instead be brought into the mainstream.

Responding to the Prime Minister's address in a post on X, Das strongly objected to the phrasing, arguing that educated young people were being unfairly targeted simply for holding the administration accountable.

"Dimagi Naxal or whatever is not going to work, Prime Minister. How could you loosely brand educated young people 'Naxalis' etc? Just because they question your government? Sheer arrogance! Sheer incompetence at resolving their problems?" Das wrote.

Das further posted: "Bells are ringing. The awakening is here!"

In a separate Independence Day message, Das remarked that the nation was perhaps celebrating the occasion "in its truest sense" after 12 years. He stated that "something within us has finally broken free: The fear."

According to Das, a generation of citizens that had previously been told to remain silent has now found its voice, while individuals who had been told that nothing would ever change have begun to believe again.

"An era of awakening has begun. An era of peaceful protest has begun," Das said.
