Saurav Das Files ₹2 Crore Suit in Delhi High Court Over Home Address Disclosure

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das has approached the Delhi High Court with a ₹2 crore lawsuit against political commentator Abhijit Iyer Mitra and several media platforms, alleging that they violated his privacy by publishing his residential address in Greater Kailash along with other personal details.

In his petition, Das named Mitra alongside a legal news portal, a media platform, and social media accounts linked to another portal and a newspaper as defendants. The suit seeks ₹2 crore in damages, an injunction restraining the defendants from further publishing or circulating his private details, and court directions for the immediate removal of the offending videos.

According to the suit, Das has been living in a rented house in Greater Kailash since early 2025. He alleged that representatives of a media platform entered the premises without permission, recorded footage of the interior spaces, and subsequently shared the video on X on August 5. The petition stated that the clip amassed more than 2.1 million views and was republished on August 10.

Das also alleged that Mitra disclosed specific details regarding his residence during a programme hosted by the legal news portal. During the broadcast, Mitra allegedly identified his neighbour and claimed that Das paid approximately ₹7 lakh per month in rent, a figure Das stated was incorrect. Mitra later published several posts reiterating the alleged personal information.

The petition noted that the repeated exposure of his address and private details poses a severe security hazard. Given that Das has faced violent threats in the past, the suit stated that circulating his residential location materially increases the risk of hostile individuals finding his home, thereby exposing Das and his family members to potential intimidation, harassment, and physical violence.
