Satish Gujral permanent art chamber unveiled at Bikaner House in New Delhi

A permanent rotating chamber and dynamic cultural space dedicated to the artworks and legacy of artist Satish Gujral has been unveiled at Arzaani Atelier Privé in Bikaner House, New Delhi. Named 'Sanctum: Gujral', the space was launched by RGAL | Raseel Gujral Art Legacy to establish a permanent address for collectors, patrons, architects, designers, and younger audiences to engage with the artist's original works beyond temporary exhibitions.

Conceived as an intimate space within Arzaani, the chamber functions as a dynamic cultural environment rather than a conventional gallery or retail display. It is designed to showcase a continually evolving rotation of Satish Gujral's original artworks, drawings, sculptures, limited-edition prints, and select editions.

The inaugural presentation at the chamber featured works from the artist's celebrated 'Liberty Series'. This series explores themes of freedom, identity, and human resilience through layered compositions, textured surfaces, and figurative language. The series was created during a period of deep reflection in Gujral’s practice, merging emotional intensity with architectural structure.

Speaking on the initiative, Raseel Gujral Ansal said, "For my father, art was not meant for intellectual dissection or consumption. The work was complete once the form had found its integrity. Its purpose was not explanation, but to encounter an engagement with the viewer's own sensibility and state of being."

She added that the space invites viewers to immerse, engage, and absorb the work on their own terms, letting meaning arise through presence rather than instruction.

The chamber will serve as a year-round venue for rotating curatorial presentations. These will include thematic explorations of Gujral's paintings, charcoals, sculptures, and architectural sensibilities.

To allow a wider generation of collectors to participate in the artist's legacy, Sanctum has also introduced a series of museum-quality limited editions and artist folios. This initiative aims to maintain the integrity and rarity of the original pieces while expanding access to his work.
