Rainwater Floods DSEU Rohini Campus Laboratory, Forcing Class Suspensions

Rainwater flooded the Strength of Material (SOM) laboratory at the Rohini campus of Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) on Thursday, drenching expensive equipment and forcing the university administration to temporarily suspend classes in the affected area.

The incident came to light after a video recorded by the laboratory in-charge surfaced online. The footage showed rainwater pouring through the ceiling and accumulating across the floor of the ground-floor facility, raising immediate concerns about the safety of students and staff, as well as the condition of the university's expensive laboratory equipment.

In the recorded video, the laboratory in-charge identified himself and his office, pointing out the severe condition of the facility. He explained that water was leaking from the roof of the first floor and reaching the ground floor, even though there is another floor constructed above the laboratory.

According to the official, the water leak drenched all the equipment, official records, chairs, and tables inside the laboratory. He added that the flooding left absolutely no place for students to sit and attend their scheduled classes.

The laboratory in-charge also raised alarms over a severe safety hazard, alleging that an electrical panel inside the flooded room remained operational despite the active water seepage. He warned that the combination of standing water and live electricity could easily result in a short circuit or electrocution for anyone in the area.

In response to the flooding and the safety risks, the DSEU administration temporarily suspended all classes in the affected area of the Rohini campus. The administration also shifted the scheduled practical sessions to another laboratory to ensure student safety.
