Rain Hits Delhi as Mayur Vihar Records 37mm, Causing Traffic Chaos

Fresh spells of rain hit several parts of Delhi on Monday and Tuesday, bringing down temperatures but triggering familiar waterlogging and traffic snarls, with Mayur Vihar recording 37 mm of rainfall in the latest spell.

The showers brought temporary relief from the heat across the capital, though commuting problems quickly returned in several parts of the city. Traffic movement was affected as intense rainfall coincided with heavy traffic volume, while drainage in several locations remained inadequate to handle the deluge.

The recent rainfall comes after a notably wet start to the month. Safdarjung, Delhi's base weather station, recorded 127 mm of rainfall in the first seven days of August alone.

The India Meteorological Department has indicated that more rain is likely over the coming days. With further showers expected, civic infrastructure, road conditions, and daily commuting remain under close scrutiny across the capital.
