Plumber dies after falling from second-floor balcony in Dwarka Sector 13

A 35-year-old plumber died after falling from a second-floor balcony while carrying out repair and maintenance work at Rosewood Apartments in Sector 13, Dwarka on Monday morning. The victim, identified as Gurudev Ram, sustained severe head and neck injuries during the fall and succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

According to the police, Ram was originally from Purnia in Bihar and was living in a rented room in Dwarka. He had been hired by a local house owner through a contractor to perform repair work at a four-storeyed residential complex inside the Rosewood Apartments society. While he was working on the balcony, he reportedly lost his balance, accidentally slipped, and fell approximately 15 to 20 feet.

Following the incident, Ram was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka. Police received a call from hospital doctors around noon on Monday, informing them about the injured worker. Due to the severity of his head and neck injuries, Ram was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in an unconscious and unresponsive condition, where he later passed away while undergoing treatment.

Investigators revealed that Ram was not provided with a safety rope or any other protective equipment while working at the height. A police crime team has since inspected and photographed the spot where the accident occurred.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant legal sections concerning negligence leading to death and negligent conduct with respect to building construction and repair. An FIR has been registered against unknown persons, and authorities are currently questioning both the contractor and the house owner. No arrests have been made yet, and the police investigation remains underway.
