Over 47 Lakh Delhi Voters Yet to Submit SIR Details Before Deadline

As many as 47.9 lakh registered voters in New Delhi and across the capital have not submitted their enumeration forms for verification and digitisation under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with roughly 24 hours remaining before the deadline.

The submission window is scheduled to close on Monday night. Voters who fail to submit their forms by the cutoff will not be able to do so later, and their names will be excluded from the draft electoral roll scheduled to be published on August 24.

According to a status report released by the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi at 8 pm on Sunday, 97.2 lakh of the 1.45 crore enumeration forms distributed across the city have been verified and digitised, bringing the overall completion rate to 66.9%. This leaves nearly 33% of voters' enumeration forms unverified and undigitised.

Officials noted that reasons for non-submission include the shifting of voters, deaths, and migration out of Delhi, among other factors.

The enumeration phase began on June 30. During this period, 13,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) conducted door-to-door visits to distribute forms to voters, who were expected to submit their completed details to the BLOs before August 17.
