Over 218,000 Register for Delhi University UG Admissions with B.Com Hons as Top Choice

Delhi University (DU) in Delhi announced on Sunday that over 218,000 candidates completed their registration for undergraduate programs for the 2026-27 academic session, with Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) (Hons.) emerging as the most preferred course.

The university revealed that B.Com (Hons.), B.Com (Pass), and Bachelor of Arts (BA) (Hons.) English are the top three choices among applicants. Other highly sought-after courses include BA (Hons.) Political Science, BA programme, BA (Hons.) History, Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons.) Zoology, BSc (Hons.) Mathematics, BSc (Hons.) Life Sciences, and BA (Hons.) Economics.

According to official data released by the university, around 270,000 applicants signed up on the portal, with nearly 218,000 completing the registration process by Sunday. The registered pool of completed applications comprises 120,509 female and 97,775 male candidates.

On Sunday, DU also released simulated ranks based on candidates' Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores and submitted preferences. These simulated ranks serve as an indicative tool to help applicants estimate their admission chances and reorder their preferences.

Haneet Gandhi, the dean of admissions, stated that the simulated ranks are based on candidate data registered until 5:00 PM on July 12. This allows students to view their tentative ranks in relation to their marks and the volume of applicants for specific courses.

Applicants have until 4:59 PM on Monday to make changes to their college and course preferences before the window closes. This deadline marks the conclusion of the second phase of the 2026-27 admission process.

The third phase, which initiates the allocation-cum-admission process, will begin with the declaration of the first Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) list on July 16. Candidates who receive allocations in this first list must deposit their admission fees by July 21.

A total of 71,600 undergraduate seats are available across 73 UG programmes and more than 150 BA programme combinations offered by 67 affiliated colleges at the university.

Candidates who secure a seat in the first round can choose to accept the seat, complete document verification, and pay the fees, or opt for an "upgrade" to be considered for a higher-preference course or college in subsequent rounds. Those who do not receive an allocation in the first round will automatically be considered in future rounds. The second allocation list is scheduled to be released on July 25, with the payment window closing on July 28.
