Northern Railway Urges Passengers Not to Misuse Train Linen After Video Goes Viral

Northern Railway has issued an appeal to passengers regarding the responsible use of train amenities following the circulation of a viral video showing three men wrapped in railway bedsheets outside a roadside shop in New Delhi.

The video, which gained significant traction across social media platforms, captured the three men casually draped in bedsheets marked with the distinctive blue strip associated with Western Railway. The unusual visual prompted both amusement and sharp criticism from online users, with many questioning how official railway linen was removed from trains and brought outside the railway network.

In response to the online circulation of the footage, Northern Railway shared the photograph on its official social media account, pairing the image with a public advisory urging travellers to handle bedrolls with care and respect.

"Style aapse hai, train ke bedroll se nahi!" the railway authority stated in its public message. The railway further urged passengers: "Use your bedroll responsibly and leave it in its place when you deboard. Be A #SmartRailYatri."

In its advisory, the railway reminded the public that bedrolls and linen sets are supplied exclusively for passenger comfort inside coaches during journeys. Officials reiterated that the items are not permitted to be taken away upon deboarding or used as personal clothing.

Indian Railways provides bedrolls to passengers travelling in air-conditioned coaches across its network. The recent incident and subsequent railway response have renewed focus on passenger responsibility and the proper handling and safeguarding of onboard railway property.
