Noida Authority to build Rs 145 crore sports complex in Sector 123

The Noida Authority on Thursday announced plans to construct a 26.65-acre sports complex in Sector 123, Noida, at an estimated cost of ₹145 crore. The state-of-the-art facility will feature international-standard athletics infrastructure and is designed to host national and international competitions.
The project will be completed in two phases over the next two years. The Noida Authority has already issued a tender to hire an agency to develop the complex, which will include civil works, electrical installations, landscaping, and other supporting utilities.
According to officials, the first phase of the project will cover 14.92 acres of land at a cost of ₹70.34 crore. This phase will feature a synthetic 400-meter athletics track meeting World Athletics standards, a football ground, four tennis courts, four volleyball courts, two basketball courts, and facilities for long jump, high jump, discus, hammer throw, javelin, and shot put. It will also include a kids' play area, an open gym, parking, high-mast floodlights, and public announcement systems.
The second phase, costing ₹74.66 crore, will develop a multipurpose indoor hall, indoor sports facilities, and residential accommodations for coaches on 11.73 acres of land. Once completed, the entire complex will offer parking space for approximately 150 cars alongside a separate two-wheeler parking area.
Krishan Karunesh, chief executive officer of the Noida Authority, stated that the complex will groom budding talent and cater to local sports enthusiasts and residents. Currently, Noida only has one major stadium in Sector 21A, which frequently remains overcrowded.
The Sector 123 site was originally planned to be a landfill. However, following strong opposition from local residents and villagers, the proposed dumping ground was relocated. The excavation pit at the site was filled and covered, and the land remained vacant from 2018 until the authority decided to repurpose it for the sports complex.
