NDMC Ramps Up Preparations Across New Delhi for Upcoming BRICS Summit

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has intensified preparations across New Delhi for the upcoming BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place on September 12 and September 13. The civic body is putting comprehensive measures in place to ensure the city remains clean, green, and safe for international delegates and visitors.

NDMC Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi reviewed the ongoing work on Monday to assess readiness across multiple operational areas. The council has established coordinated arrangements covering sanitation, beautification, horticulture, infrastructure upkeep, electricity supply, public health, enforcement, parking management, and round-the-clock monitoring to meet international standards.

As part of the focused monitoring strategy, NDMC has divided 41 major roads across the area into 14 separate circles. A dedicated nodal officer has been assigned to each circle to supervise civic maintenance and address local issues swiftly.

Dedicated arrangements have also been planned for various major events associated with the summit. These associated programmes include the BRICS Bazaar, BRICS Run & Ride, BRICS Murals and Painting, and the BRICS Food Festival. Nodal officers appointed specifically for these events will coordinate directly with relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure proper management at each venue.

Taking into account the possibility of rain during the summit period, the civic council is implementing preventive measures to minimise waterlogging. Teams have been tasked with maintaining effective drainage systems and continuously clearing accumulated leaves and other waste from roads and public spaces throughout the municipal area.
