NDMC Extends Operating Hours for 11 Public Toilets Across Connaught Place to Midnight

The New Delhi Municipal Council has extended the operating hours of several public toilets in its jurisdiction from 10 pm to midnight, with the change taking effect from Friday across Connaught Place and nearby routes. To begin with, authorities have identified 11 public facilities for the late-night schedule, of which nine are located directly in and around the commercial hub of Connaught Place.
The decision to keep the facilities accessible later into the night was taken to accommodate visitors who frequent the central business district after regular business hours. Officials noted that more public conveniences are likely to be brought under the extended-hour arrangement in the future, depending on the footfall recorded across different zones.
NDMC chairman Manoj Dwivedi announced the operational update, stating on social media platform X that people like to stay in Connaught Place late at night, prompting the civic body to extend the operating timings for the 11 public toilets up to midnight starting Friday.
The identified facilities within the Connaught Place network include public toilets located in A, E, F, and K blocks along the middle circle, as well as near the Super Bazaar Parking in F Block. Two designated toilets inside Central Park, situated opposite D and F blocks, have also been included under the midnight operational timeline.
Beyond the inner and middle circles, the list of extended-hour facilities covers locations along Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, near ECE House on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Panchkuia, and Chelmsford Road.
The civic body's move to prolong operational access at these 11 locations comes at a time when the NDMC has been facing challenges in maintaining its existing public utility sites across the capital.
