NDMC Approves ₹3.91-Crore Revamp for New Delhi Constituency Parks

The New Delhi Municipal Council has initiated a ₹3.91-crore project to revamp neighbourhood parks across the New Delhi constituency by installing open-air gym equipment and upgrading children's play areas, officials announced on Monday.

The project is being implemented under the CMD Fund Scheme and aims to make neighbourhood green spaces more functional and inviting for local residents. Civic officials stated that the initiative is designed to provide dedicated outdoor spaces for both daily fitness routines and children's recreation closer to residential neighbourhoods.

Under the planned upgrades, the civic body will add outdoor fitness equipment to encourage residents to exercise in their local parks. The children's play zones will be overhauled with upgraded swings, slides, and other play structures to create safer and better-maintained recreational environments for families and children.

According to the official schedule of quantities, the scope of work involves supplying and installing 12 varieties of multi-activity play units, amounting to 26 structures across parks and playgrounds in the constituency. The installation will also include 42 spring-mounted duck rockers, 42 horse-shaped spring rockers, 42 merry-go-rounds, and 42 double-user seesaws.

The municipal council has initiated the process of selecting contractors through an e-procurement bidding system. Once the contracts are awarded and work begins, the entire project is scheduled to be completed within six months of commencement.

To minimise disruptions and inconvenience for residents living near the parks during the installation process, the civic body has incorporated specific environmental safeguards into the project guidelines.

Officials noted that appointed contractors will be required to strictly comply with Central Public Works Department standards as well as National Green Tribunal guidelines. These requirements include mandatory dust-control measures at work sites to prevent construction and installation activities from adversely affecting the surrounding air quality.

Civic officials added that once the installations are finished, the revamped parks are expected to function as vibrant community hubs, combining green spaces with dedicated infrastructure for daily walks, fitness activities, and children's play.
