Najafgarh Man Arrested for Beating Roommate to Death in Ajay Park

A 46-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating his roommate to death in the Ajay Park area of Najafgarh following an altercation, Delhi Police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around midnight on August 28 at a rented accommodation in Najafgarh. The victim, identified as 46-year-old Dadan, a native of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, lived in the shared room with the accused, Ranjit Ram.

According to police, both men had consumed alcohol together before getting into an argument over an unspecified issue. The disagreement escalated into a physical fight.

"Around midnight, Ranjit allegedly assaulted Dadan with fists and blows to his face and head. During the assault, Dadan fell on the floor and sustained an injury," a senior police officer said, adding that blood was found at the scene.

Following the scuffle, Ranjit reportedly went to sleep in the same room. When he woke up the next morning, he found Dadan unresponsive and dead. Ranjit subsequently informed the victim's family about the death.

The incident came to the attention of authorities on August 29 after Dadan's nephew, Ramesh, arrived at the rented room and alerted the police through a PCR call.

Upon receiving the call, a police team and a crime team inspected the premises to conduct preliminary proceedings and collect evidence. Dadan's body was sent to Rao Tula Ram Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Police noted that Dadan worked at a local scrap warehouse. An FIR has been registered in the matter, and further investigation is underway.
