Muskan Murder Accused Imran Arrested After Gunfight in Rajouri Garden
Delhi Police have arrested the prime accused in the murder of 21-year-old model Muskan following an exchange of fire in West Delhi's Rajouri Garden on Thursday. The accused, identified as Imran, sustained bullet injuries to his legs during the shootout and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to DCP (West) Hareshwar Swami, a police team tracked Imran to the area near the sub-registrar's office in Rajouri Garden. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Imran allegedly opened fire. Police retaliated, leading to an exchange of 11 rounds in total. Imran allegedly fired four rounds, while police fired seven rounds. Three police bullets struck Imran in the knees.
Muskan was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the abdomen inside her home in Delhi. Following the killing, Imran allegedly fled the scene carrying Muskan’s iPhone and constantly changed locations to evade capture. Investigators suspect he took the phone in an attempt to delete text messages, chats, and erase his digital footprint. Police are currently analysing the phone and other digital evidence to verify whether any conversations or data were removed after the attack.
Investigators are also looking into whether Imran had contacted Muskan shortly before the stabbing. According to Muskan’s family, Imran had allegedly harassed her over an extended period. Police suspect Imran was aggrieved because he believed Muskan was in contact with another man. Because Imran remains hospitalised, officers have not yet interrogated him regarding the murder weapon or detailed motives.
A background check revealed Imran has a prior criminal record. In 2018, he was booked under the POCSO Act in Tilak Nagar for allegedly sexually harassing a minor, facing charges related to stalking, outraging the modesty of a woman, voluntarily causing hurt, and common intention. In 2021, a culpable homicide case was registered against him following court orders over an October 30, 2020 incident where he allegedly struck a man with a stone slab, leaving the victim in a coma for six days.
Police are also reviewing Imran's social media accounts, including a 2019 video where a man inside a room is seen firing three gunshots into the air, to gather further details on his associates and activities.
