Mukundpur Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Minor Cousin and Dumping Body in Burari

Delhi Police have arrested a labourer from Mukundpur in north Delhi for allegedly murdering his minor cousin, stuffing her body into a suitcase, and abandoning it in the Burari area.

The alleged murder had initially gone unnoticed. However, a police informer became suspicious of the accused, identified as Avinash, after observing his movements. According to police officials, the source saw Avinash borrow a motorcycle from a friend and leave with a suitcase. When Avinash returned without the luggage, the informer alerted the authorities.

The tip-off was relayed to Head Constable Sanjay of the special staff, following which police personnel initiated an inquiry into the matter.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Shobhit D Saksena stated that a police team acted swiftly on the intelligence, laid a trap, and apprehended Avinash at Mukundpur. During questioning by investigators, Avinash allegedly confessed to the killing and disclosed details regarding the crime.

Police said the accused led the team to a specific spot in Ajit Vihar, Burari, where he had hidden the suitcase containing the minor girl's body. The investigating team recovered the body from the site.

During his interrogation, Avinash allegedly told officers that the victim was in a relationship with a man, and her family was opposed to the relationship.

Police are conducting further investigations to establish the precise sequence of events and verify the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
