Mechanic Killed as Under-Construction Building Collapses in Rohini Sector 16

A 42-year-old mechanic was killed and his friend was injured on Wednesday when an under-construction building collapsed in Sector 16, Rohini. The deceased, identified as Ram, was riding past the structure on his motorcycle when the building gave way and buried him under the debris.

Ram had just stepped out of his home to collect spare parts for his workshop, which was located a short distance away. As he rode past the under-construction site, the building suddenly caved in on him. His friend, Ravi, who was riding with him on the motorcycle, survived the incident but suffered injuries to his legs. The motorcycle itself was badly damaged in the collapse.

According to family members, Ram suffered a severe head injury and his hand was dislocated in the accident. A relative shared that when they eventually found him under the debris, his shirt was completely soaked in blood. Ram, who was the sole breadwinner for his household, died from his injuries.

The sudden tragedy has left his family completely devastated. Ram is survived by his wife, Renu, his mother, Kiran, and his two sons, 13-year-old Mukul and 8-year-old Mokshit, who are students in Classes IX and V, respectively. The family had moved to the Sector 16 area of Rohini around two years ago, hoping to raise the two young children in a better neighbourhood.

Ram's younger brother, Naveen, was at home having lunch when he received the news of the building collapse. He immediately rushed to the site of the incident. Outside the family home, neighbours and relatives gathered to offer their support as Ram's wife and mother wept inconsolably over their sudden loss.
