MCD Approves Equal Pay for 4,400 MTS Employees, Salaries to Rise by Up to Rs 10,000

Around 4,400 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS/DBC) employees working under the health department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are set to receive equal pay benefits, which will raise their monthly salaries by up to approximately Rs 10,000, Mayor Pravesh Wahi announced on Friday in New Delhi.

The revised pay structure will be implemented and disbursed to the eligible health department staff starting from the forthcoming month, according to details released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The proposal received its final formal approval following the thorough completion of all relevant administrative, financial, and legal formalities required by the civic administration.

Mayor Wahi termed the decision a special Independence Day gift to the municipal employees. He noted that the revision had been pending for a long time and aimed to ensure that the staff receive compensation that is fully commensurate with their actual duties and operational responsibilities within the health department.

The resolution was reached in coordination with key civic officials, including MCD Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma and MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar.

Mayor Wahi recalled that he had initially announced the pay measure during the Budget Speech in his earlier capacity as the Leader of the House. He noted that the final approval was secured after systematically overcoming several hurdles and wrapping up all requisite procedural formalities across departments.

Stressing the importance of the revision, the mayor framed the decision as a crucial step toward ensuring the dignity and rights of MCD employees. He added that the salary boost would substantially enhance the morale of the workforce tasked with delivering essential health-related services across the national capital, while offering meaningful financial support to thousands of municipal workers and their families.
