Man stabbed to death by brother in Vasant Kunj South over job advice

A 21-year-old man died on Thursday after being stabbed by his elder brother during a domestic dispute in Rajokari Pahadi, Vasant Kunj South. The incident occurred on June 30 when the victim, Om Prakash alias Prakash Singh, advised his unemployed brother to find work, which allegedly enraged the accused.
The victim succumbed to his injuries at Safdarjung Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment since the attack. Following his death, the Delhi Police upgraded the charge against the accused to murder.
According to the police, a PCR call regarding a stabbing in the Rajokari Pahadi area was received on June 30. Upon arriving at the spot, a police team found that the injured victim, Om Prakash, had already been taken to Safdarjung Hospital by others.
Investigating officers revealed that a heated argument had broken out at the family home between Om Prakash and his 25-year-old brother, Roop Singh alias Kalia. The accused, who is unemployed and allegedly addicted to intoxicants, became furious when his younger brother suggested he take up some work.
The confrontation quickly escalated, and Roop Singh allegedly stabbed his younger brother, causing serious injuries.
Initially, the police registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 109(1). During the subsequent investigation, police arrested Roop Singh and recovered the knife allegedly used in the crime. A senior police officer stated that the accused was found to be previously involved in several other criminal cases.
Following Om Prakash's death on Thursday, the police replaced the initial section with a murder charge. The victim's body has been preserved in the Safdarjung Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. The Delhi Police stated that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
