Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping Makeup Artist in North Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar

A man has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody for allegedly raping a 22-year-old makeup artist twice at hotels in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, police said.

According to police officials, the complainant, who resides in the Wazirabad area of the capital, first came into contact with the accused last year through social media. The man had introduced himself on the platform as a fellow professional working in the makeup industry.

Investigators stated that the accused reached out to the woman in July and invited her to meet him at a hotel located in Mukherjee Nagar. He reportedly told her that the meeting would serve as an opportunity to introduce her to established contacts and professionals within the makeup industry.

During the meeting at the hotel, the accused allegedly offered the woman a cold drink that had been spiked with an intoxicating substance. After she consumed the beverage, the man allegedly raped her. Following the assault, the accused promised to marry her in an attempt to dissuade her from reporting the matter to the police.

The woman alleged that the harassment continued, and on August 8, the accused brought her to another hotel. When she resisted his advances, he allegedly threatened to kill her before sexually assaulting her for a second time.

During the course of the assault on August 8, the woman's physical condition deteriorated significantly. The accused then fled the hotel premises, leaving the victim behind in the room.

Staff members at the hotel noticed the situation and promptly alerted the police. Responding police teams arrived at the scene and shifted the woman to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment. Her condition was subsequently reported to be stable.

Following the woman's complaint and medical examination, the police apprehended the accused. He has since been formally arrested and produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
