Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Inside Sadar Bazaar Shop

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl inside a shop in central Delhi's Sadar Bazaar, police said. The suspect was taken into custody following an immediate police response to the scene.

According to police officials, the incident occurred late at night when the girl had stepped out of her residence around 11 pm to purchase stationery. A man allegedly lured her into his shop, where he restrained her and committed the sexual assault.

The crime came to light on September 16 after authorities received a Police Control Room call reporting the matter. Police teams attached to the Sadar Bazaar police station were dispatched and arrived at the location shortly after.

Assistant Commissioners of Police overseeing Sadar Bazaar and the Women Police Station also reached the spot to handle the situation. Officers conducted preliminary procedures at the premises following the distress report.

A First Information Report was subsequently registered at the North District Women’s Police Station. The case was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police identified the arrested accused as Maqsood. Following his arrest, he was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
