Man and Woman Found Dead in Sant Nagar Rented House in Suspected Suicide
A 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were found dead on Monday morning inside a rented house in Sant Nagar, southeast Delhi. The Delhi Police, who suspect the deaths to be a case of suicide, recovered a handwritten note from the scene of the incident.
The matter was officially reported to the Amar Colony police station at 9:08 AM on Monday. Following the alert, a police team was immediately dispatched and rushed to the spot in Sant Nagar. Upon arriving at the residence, police officers found that the door to the house had already been broken open by one of the woman's friends or neighbours.
Inside the rented accommodation, police officers discovered the body of the 26-year-old woman lying on the bed. The 30-year-old man was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope.
A specialized crime team along with officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at the house to inspect the scene. The forensic team and police investigators collected physical evidence from the spot to help reconstruct the sequence of events.
During their search of the premises, police investigators recovered a handwritten suicide note. Preliminary investigations suggest that the note prima facie appears to have been written by the man. However, the exact contents of the handwritten note have not been immediately disclosed by the authorities.
The bodies of both the man and the woman have been shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for post-mortem examinations. Police officials confirmed that the families of both the deceased individuals have been informed about the tragic incident.
The Delhi Police have initiated inquest proceedings under the relevant laws. Investigators stated that they have not ruled out any angle at this stage and are keeping the investigation open. Further details regarding the cause and circumstances of the deaths are expected to be revealed after the completion of the post-mortem examinations and the forensic analysis of the evidence collected from the rented house.
