Lady Shri Ram College Partners With 20 Organizations For Student Research

Lady Shri Ram College (LSR) in New Delhi is actively strengthening its higher education-industry linkages by bringing companies and institutions directly into its student research ecosystem. This ongoing initiative is designed to benefit fourth-year research students by providing them with valuable exposure to applied research, while simultaneously helping the collaborating organizations find academic solutions to their real-world challenges.
To launch this initiative, the college administration conducted a comprehensive survey of nearly 200 stakeholders across various sectors. The primary goal of the survey was to identify specific research problems that students enrolled in the college's fourth-year research programme can work on during their studies.
The survey results showed that a majority of the stakeholders expressed a strong willingness to collaborate with the college. Among these, around 20 organizations have already agreed in principle to voluntarily co-supervise the student research projects. In addition to local companies and institutions, overseas institutions have also shown interest in participating in the program.
Through this collaborative exercise, several key research priorities have emerged as the main areas of focus. These priorities include artificial intelligence, sustainability, workplace mental health, and healthcare. Students will work on finding solutions to real-world challenges within these specific fields.
According to Lady Shri Ram College, the decision to build these structured partnerships follows a steady rise in internships undertaken by LSR students. Students have been increasingly participating in internships during both the summer break and the regular academic semester. Several of these internships have been completed in lieu of Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) credits.
This growing trend of student internships encouraged the college to move beyond traditional placements. Instead of focusing solely on job placements, LSR is now working towards building structured industry partnerships that feed directly into the student research ecosystem.
