Labourer Dies, Another Injured After Falling from Height in West Delhi's Fateh Nagar

A 44-year-old labourer died and another worker sustained severe injuries after falling from a height during whitewashing work in west Delhi's Fateh Nagar on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Munna Shah, a resident of Govindpuri. The injured worker, identified as Rajesh, is a resident of Sangam Vihar.

According to the police, the incident took place in D Block of Fateh Nagar. A PCR call regarding two labourers falling from a height was received at the Hari Nagar police station. By the time police personnel reached the spot, both victims had already been shifted to nearby medical facilities.

Munna Shah was transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. Rajesh was admitted to Dashmesh Hospital, where he continues to undergo treatment. Police noted that Rajesh was unable to record a statement due to severe pain.

A senior police officer stated that initial findings pointed to unsafe working conditions. Based on the inspection of the scene, medical evidence, and surrounding circumstances, it appeared that both labourers fell due to a lack of adequate safety measures at the site.

Following the incident, the police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 290 for negligent conduct during the construction, repair, or demolition of buildings, 125 for acts endangering life or personal safety of others, and 106 for causing death by negligence.
