Kejriwal Says Gen Alpha Is Raising Voice for Better Govt School Facilities

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, August 15, said that after Gen-Z, children belonging to Gen Alpha have started raising their voices to demand improved facilities and infrastructure in government schools across the country.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on the occasion of Independence Day, the Aam Aadmi Party leader pointed out that students across several states are now staging protests to secure basic necessities. He cited specific instances from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, Dehradun, and Barmer, where young students have come forward to demand adequate teachers and better roads.

Mr. Kejriwal remarked that it is deeply unfortunate that even after 75 to 80 years of Independence, state-run schools continue to be plagued by structural and logistical problems. He pointed out that many government school premises continue to suffer from damaged buildings, leaking roofs, a severe shortage of teachers, and a lack of basic necessities such as drinking water and functional toilets.

The AAP leader observed that for decades, citizens had largely accepted the sub-standard conditions in government educational institutions as a normal state of affairs. However, he emphasized that this mindset is shifting as children themselves are now refusing to accept the status quo and are actively questioning the administrative system.

Highlighting his party's administrative record, Mr. Kejriwal pointed to the educational reforms implemented by the AAP government in Punjab. He claimed that schools in the state have seen substantial improvements under the party's governance, enabling local students to prepare for and appear in national entrance examinations such as NEET and JEE to pursue careers as doctors and engineers.
