Kanpur Cab Driver Dinesh Shukla Found Dead In Parked Car After Gurgaon Trip
A 40-year-old cab driver was found dead inside his parked car in Dwarka, New Delhi, on Wednesday, shortly after he completed a passenger drop-off trip in Gurgaon. Delhi Police suspect the driver died of suffocation inside the vehicle, which had its windows rolled up.
The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Shukla, a resident of Kanpur. According to investigators, Shukla had travelled from Agra to drop a passenger in Gurgaon on Tuesday. After successfully completing the trip and leaving Gurgaon, he apparently parked the vehicle in Dwarka, where his body was later discovered.
The parked cab drew the attention of a passerby, who noticed that the vehicle had remained stationary on the roadside for nearly two days. The passerby alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and discovered Shukla's body inside the car.
During the initial inspection, police officers found that the car's windows were completely rolled up. There were no visible signs of struggle, robbery, or physical assault on the body or inside the vehicle, leading investigators to focus on accidental suffocation as the primary suspected cause of death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police contacted the owner of the cab. The owner informed the police that Shukla had successfully completed his ride on Tuesday and had transferred the fare collected from the Gurgaon trip to him. According to the owner, that transaction and the accompanying conversation was the last time he spoke with Shukla.
Delhi Police have launched an investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the precise cause of death. Investigators are currently focusing on whether the car's air conditioning system had remained switched on while the vehicle was parked, which may have led to a build-up of harmful gases and contributed to the suspected suffocation.
The final cause of death will be officially determined after the police receive the findings of the post-mortem examination.
