Kamla Market Police Bust GB Road Trafficking Ring, Arrest 3 and Rescue 2

The Kamla Market police have busted a human trafficking syndicate operating out of a brothel on GB Road, arresting three women and rescuing two victims who were allegedly forced into sex work.

The arrested suspects have been identified as 55-year-old Geeta, 58-year-old Manju, and 29-year-old Paro Khatoon. According to the police, all three women are originally from West Bengal. Investigators stated that the gang targeted women by luring them to Delhi under the false pretext of providing employment, before confining them and forcing them into commercial sex work.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh stated that one of the two rescued victims is a 26-year-old woman hailing from West Bengal who had been missing since May 2. On August 25, the woman managed to contact her mother and revealed that she was being held against her will inside brothel number 58 on GB Road.

Her mother approached the women police post at Kamla Market the following day, on August 26, to alert authorities. Acting on the information, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Kiran Sethi conducted an operation at the premises and successfully rescued the woman.

During police questioning, the rescued victim shared how she was trapped by the trafficking network. She stated that she was initially approached at a railway station in West Bengal by a 30-year-old man identified as Kalu, who promised her a job.

Kalu subsequently brought her to Delhi, confiscated her mobile phone, and sold her to Geeta, who worked as a caretaker at the brothel. Police stated that Geeta kept the woman at her personal residence for approximately one month before shifting her to the GB Road brothel, where the owner, identified as Reshma, forced her into sex work.
