Investor Found Dead in Rohini Sector 3; Niece and Two Associates Detained

A 60-year-old stock market investor was found dead at his residence in Rohini Sector 3 on Tuesday evening following an alleged robbery-cum-murder, police said. Investigators have detained his 23-year-old niece and two of her alleged associates in connection with the case.

The victim, identified as Rakesh Khanna, was discovered unconscious inside his home after a PCR call alerted authorities to a theft and an unresponsive person on the premises. Khanna was rushed to Jaipur Golden Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal, prima facie there were no visible injuries on Khanna's body.

Police said Khanna was alone at home when the incident occurred. His house was ransacked, and approximately Rs 1.5 lakh in cash along with gold jewellery was reported stolen. Investigators revealed that the suspects had conducted a recce of the property on Sunday before executing the robbery.

According to police, three individuals entered Khanna's house around 7:30 pm on Tuesday, while a fourth associate stood guard outside. Preliminary inquiries identified Khanna's niece, Simran Taneja, a 23-year-old primary school teacher residing in Burari, as the suspected mastermind behind the crime.

Taneja was apprehended alongside two alleged associates from Burari: Chirag, a 22-year-old gym trainer, and Paras, a 19-year-old Class 12 student. Police noted that Paras had previously been named in a criminal case registered at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station.

A fourth suspect, identified as Himanshu, a gym owner from Burari, remains absconding. Police have recovered about Rs 70,000 in cash and some of the stolen gold jewellery.

A case has been registered at South Rohini Police Station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 103(1) for murder, 309(4) for robbery, and 3(5) for common intention. Investigations are ongoing to establish the precise sequence of events inside the residence, determine each individual's role, arrest Himanshu, and recover the remaining stolen valuables.
