IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flood Risk for Delhi-NCR on August 15

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places across Delhi-NCR on Saturday, August 15. Fairly widespread rainfall is expected across Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh as active monsoon conditions persist across north India.

The weather department also issued a warning for low to moderate flash flood risk during the 24 hours leading up to 11:30 am on August 15 across Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and west Uttar Pradesh.

According to the IMD forecast, rainfall activity across the Delhi region is expected to continue over the following days, though precipitation is likely to become more scattered starting August 16.

Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also anticipated in several neighboring states as part of the broader monsoon system covering northern, central, and eastern India.

The weather department advised residents in areas expected to receive heavy rainfall to monitor traffic updates before stepping out, adhere to local advisories, and steer clear of waterlogging-prone spots and vulnerable structures.
