IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms for Delhi on Saturday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places across Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh on Saturday. The weather department also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to impact parts of the national capital and surrounding areas.

According to the weather agency, the active monsoon spell is expected to bring wet conditions across northern India. In addition to Delhi, heavy showers have been predicted for neighbouring states including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.

Across North India, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to see heavy rainfall continue through Saturday. Uttarakhand is also expected to experience heavy rain alongside isolated thunderstorms and lightning, with wet conditions predicted to persist through August 27.

The IMD noted that rainfall activity will remain widespread across several parts of the country over the coming days. In central India, East Madhya Pradesh may receive isolated very heavy rainfall on Saturday, while widespread showers are anticipated across West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds are also predicted for Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and parts of the northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The weather bureau indicated that the ongoing monsoon spell will keep rainfall active across the Himalayan region, central, eastern, and western India through August 27, maintaining wet weather patterns in multiple regions.
