IMD Forecasts Cloudy Skies and Light Rain Across Delhi-NCR

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with very light to light rain at a few places across Delhi-NCR.

Across the wider northern region, the weather agency stated that Uttarakhand is likely to receive heavy rain on Sunday, with rainfall activity expected to continue through Thursday. Isolated areas in Uttarakhand are also likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh may receive scattered rain starting Sunday, while Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad are likely to see scattered to fairly widespread rain over the coming days.

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places across central India, eastern India, the Northeast, and parts of southern India on Sunday. Rainfall activity is projected to remain widespread across multiple regions through Thursday.

In central India, Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rain on Sunday, with fairly widespread rainfall continuing across the state in the following days. Chhattisgarh is also expected to receive heavy showers, with widespread rain likely through Thursday. Thunderstorms with lightning have been forecast over parts of both Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

In eastern India, Bihar is likely to see heavy rainfall on Sunday, with wet conditions expected to persist through Monday. Jharkhand may also experience heavy showers, while Odisha is forecast to receive heavy rain on Sunday followed by very heavy rain over the subsequent days.

Across the northeastern states, heavy rain is forecast for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on Sunday, with Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura also likely to see heavy showers. Heavy rainfall is expected to persist across Assam and Meghalaya through Thursday, and over Arunachal Pradesh from Sunday through Thursday.

In western India, Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving widespread rainfall through Thursday. Central Maharashtra is expected to see scattered rain, while Gujarat, Marathwada, Saurashtra, and Kutch are likely to receive scattered showers.

In southern India, widespread rain is forecast for coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on Sunday. Coastal and north interior Karnataka may see heavy rain on Sunday, while Kerala and Mahe are expected to experience heavy showers through Tuesday. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
