Husband arrested in Madhu Vihar for wife's suspicious death at Mussoorie homestay

An IT employee was arrested in the Madhu Vihar area of East Delhi on Saturday, July 12, 2026, in connection with the suspicious death of his 27-year-old wife, P. Radha Gayatri, at a homestay near Mussoorie. Following his arrest, the Dehradun Police produced the suspect before the Judicial Magistrate Court of Mussoorie, which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
The victim, who was also an IT employee living in Delhi, was found dead on June 15, 2026, on the floor of the couple's room at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanolti road in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The couple had traveled to the homestay to celebrate the husband's birthday.
According to the police, the husband initially stated that the couple had some drinks and went to sleep around 3:30 a.m. on June 15. He claimed that he woke up later that morning to find her dead.
However, the police statement noted that the body of the deceased was found lying on the floor without clothes, and bloodstains were present on the bedsheet. Investigators also recovered two empty liquor bottles and food items from the room.
Following the death, the victim's father, P. Sudhakar, lodged a complaint demanding a probe into the circumstances leading to Gayatri's death. After the family expressed suspicion regarding the husband, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Dehradun Police alleged that their subsequent investigation suggested the husband's involvement in the death. Officers obtained a non-bailable warrant from the Mussoorie court and subsequently apprehended him in East Delhi. Police added that further investigation into the case is currently underway.
The couple had been married since November 8, 2025. Both of their families originally belong to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, but the couple had been residing in Delhi prior to the incident.
