Hindu College Staff Association Urges Delhi University VC To Take Over Administration

The Hindu College Staff Association submitted a memorandum on Thursday to Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, urging him to intervene and take over the administration of Hindu College. The association demanded an independent and time-bound inquiry into alleged irregularities spanning admissions, finances, procurement, appointments, and overall college functioning.
According to the association, irregularities occurred in supernumerary admissions despite documented objections raised by teachers-in-charge and committee conveners. The memorandum claimed that key norms, including the prescribed 20% cap and applicable university ordinances, were breached during the process.
The staff association further stated that an administrative meeting held to ratify these admissions was falsely presented as an official staff council meeting. Members claimed that no such council meeting had actually been convened or attended by staff association members. These allegations come amid an ongoing controversy over admissions conducted under extracurricular activities and sports categories.
The memorandum also highlighted escalating administrative friction with the faculty. Last week, the association reported that three of its members were served show-cause notices while legitimately representing the collective and unanimous mandate of association meetings. In response, Principal Anju Srivastava stated that the show-cause notices were issued over a derogatory email sent by the staff members.
Beyond admissions and disciplinary disputes, the association alleged widespread mistreatment of faculty members, claiming they are systematically denied leave, sabbaticals, and career promotions.
The memorandum raised serious safety concerns regarding infrastructure on the campus, pointing to repeated incidents of fire, structural defects, and water seepage in newly constructed buildings at the college. University officials did not respond to requests for comment on the memorandum or the allegations.
