Gurugram Police Doubles Special Law and Order Companies to Ten

The Gurugram Police announced on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, that it has established five new Special Law and Order companies, bringing the total number of such active units in the district to ten. The deployment spans across the East, West, South, and Manesar police zones, as well as under the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), to address local security needs and ensure immediate response capabilities during emergencies.
According to police officials, the major expansion is designed to strengthen local law and order while boosting the department's overall operational readiness. By doubling the number of these specialized units, the Gurugram Police department aims to ensure a much quicker response to sensitive situations and enable rapid deployment across the region.
Out of the ten total companies now available, eight have been strategically deployed across the district's primary police zones. The East, West, South, and Manesar zones have each received two dedicated companies to maintain security and handle law and order duties within their respective jurisdictions.
The remaining two companies will operate directly under the authority of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters). These units will remain stationed at the headquarters, ready for prompt deployment to any location in the district as required by emerging situations or urgent operational needs.
Each of the ten Special Law and Order companies consists of exactly 107 personnel, ensuring a substantial force is available for field operations. The leadership structure of each company is led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who serves as the Company Commander. To assist with operational coordination, an Inspector is assigned to each unit as the Assistant Commander.
The proposal to establish these specialized law and order companies was first mooted in the wake of the communal riots that took place in 2023. The newly formed units are expected to significantly enhance the police department's ability to manage future security challenges and maintain peace throughout Gurugram.
