Gurgaon Security Officer Anil Tanwar Arrested For Shooting Wife And Son Dead

A 56-year-old security officer was arrested by the police on Sunday after he allegedly shot and killed his wife and son during a domestic dispute at their residence in Ashok Vihar Phase 3, Gurgaon on Saturday night.
The accused, identified as Anil Tanwar, allegedly used his licensed revolver to fire 14 rounds at his 52-year-old wife, Asha Rani, and his 27-year-old son, Prashant. Both victims were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Rani was the principal of a private school in Carterpuri, which she ran with the assistance of her son, Prashant.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by Tanwar’s daughter, who witnessed the incident while visiting her parental home. In her complaint, she stated that she, her brother, and her sister-in-law were on the first floor of the house when they heard her parents arguing on the third floor.
When the daughter went upstairs, she saw her father physically assaulting her mother. Prashant rushed upstairs to intervene in the physical altercation.
Gurgaon Police spokesperson, ASI Sandeep Kumar, stated that Tanwar became enraged by the mediation attempt, drew his licensed revolver, and opened fire on his wife and son.
The complainant and her sister-in-law attempted to stop the shooting but fled downstairs in fear as Tanwar continued to fire. When they returned after Tanwar left the floor, they found Rani and Prashant with multiple gunshot wounds.
Sector 5 police station house officer Inspector Satyawan stated that the police recovered the licensed revolver and 14 empty cartridges from the crime scene. Preliminary findings indicate the son was struck by five to six bullets and the wife by three to four.
Tanwar was produced in a Gurgaon court on Sunday and has been sent to a two-day police remand. Forensic and fingerprint teams have collected evidence from the scene as the investigation continues.
