An unidentified gunman opened fire at a shop and builder's office in Arya Nagar, Nabi Karim, in Central Delhi on Monday afternoon following an argument. The incident, which took place in a busy residential area, triggered widespread panic and chaos among local residents, though police confirmed that no injuries were reported. The Nabi Karim police station received a PCR call regarding the shooting at approximately 5:10 PM.
According to the police inquiry, the shooting occurred at a local shop that featured the office of a builder on its upper floor. Sources revealed that the accused had previously visited the builder's office to meet the owner. During that initial visit, the suspect had claimed he was looking for a house.
The suspect returned to the builder's office on Monday afternoon. While there, an argument broke out between the suspect and the builder over an unspecified issue. As the verbal altercation escalated, the accused allegedly pulled out a pistol and opened fire.
Initial police investigations revealed that the shooter fired two rounds at the shop. The sudden sound of gunfire immediately triggered chaos and panic inside the building.
Witnesses and people present at the spot immediately tried to overpower and catch the shooter to prevent him from escaping. However, the suspect managed to push them away and ran out of the building.
To ensure his escape and prevent bystanders from chasing him, the accused fired additional warning shots into the air as he fled. He ran through the narrow residential lanes of the Arya Nagar area, causing further panic among the residents.
Upon receiving the alert, a team of officers from the Nabi Karim police station rushed to the scene. The police secured the area and initiated a probe into the incident to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect.
