Gandhi Nagar Man Dies and Wife Critical After Fall From Four-Storey Rooftop

A man died and his 29-year-old wife was critically injured after falling from the rooftop of their four-storey house in Nanak Basti, Old Seelampur, within the Gandhi Nagar police station area of East Delhi. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM following an argument between the couple on the terrace.
The deceased was identified as Varun Sharma. His wife, Geeta, survived the fall but remains in critical condition. She is currently undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital. The couple had married in February 2019 and have a two-and-a-half-year-old son.
According to a senior police officer, preliminary investigations revealed that the family had dinner together around 9:00 PM. Following dinner, the couple went to sleep on the rooftop of their house.
Around 10:00 PM, family members heard the couple arguing on the terrace. Shortly after, they heard a loud sound of someone falling. When relatives rushed outside into the lane below, they found both Varun and Geeta lying on the ground with severe injuries.
The injured couple was immediately rushed to Dr Hedgewar Hospital. Varun was brought to the hospital by his brother, Arun Sharma, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Geeta was also initially taken to Dr Hedgewar Hospital before being referred to GTB Hospital due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The police received information about the incident through a medico-legal case report from Dr Hedgewar Hospital. Investigators are currently working to determine the exact circumstances of the fall.
Police officials stated that they are yet to ascertain whether the couple fell accidentally during their argument or if one pushed the other. While the family members have not expressed any suspicion of a crime so far, investigators are examining the case from all possible angles. Varun's body has been sent to GTB Hospital for a post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.
