FSSAI Finds Major Hygiene Lapses and Expired Food at Two Aerocity Hotels

Food safety inspections conducted at two major hotels in Delhi's Aerocity have uncovered multiple hygiene and food-safety lapses, including infestations of cockroaches and flies, foul smells, expired food products, and the improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, sources said.

During the inspection at one of the Aerocity hotels, officials observed deficiencies in how vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were segregated in the kitchen area. In addition to the segregation issues, officials recorded complaints and direct observations regarding the presence of cockroaches, flies, and foul odors across the premises.

Inspectors also found multiple expired food items on site. In the confectionery section, approximately 87 kilograms of expired sweets were discovered by the team and destroyed on the spot. Bread packets bearing expired date stickers were also found during the checks.

Further lapses were noted in the pastry section of the same hotel, where officials detected expired cake bases alongside live flies and cockroaches.

At a second hotel located in the Aerocity hospitality hub, food safety inspectors carried out an extensive drive that continued for approximately two days. According to sources, officials documented a total of 59 deficiencies during the two-day inspection.

The findings have brought attention to food safety and hygiene compliance standards at major hospitality establishments operating within the Aerocity area.
