Four suspected gang members killed in Sushant Lok Phase 2 police shootout

Four suspected members of the Deepak Nandal gang were killed and another was injured during a major shootout with the Gurgaon Police’s Crime Branch in Sushant Lok Phase 2 late Thursday night. The exchange of fire occurred as the suspects were allegedly attempting a robbery at a local businessman's house. Three police personnel also sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.

According to police officials, Crime Branch teams received a tip-off from the police control room regarding the presence of armed suspects in a Mahindra Scorpio. Upon receiving the information, the police teams dispatched to the location.

When the police teams arrived at the scene in Sushant Lok Phase 2, the suspects had already opened fire using sophisticated weapons at the residence of the businessman. A police spokesperson later stated that the local businessman had been receiving extortion threats from a wanted gangster based abroad.

The Crime Branch teams warned the suspects to surrender. However, the men opened fire at the police party in an attempt to flee the scene. The police retaliated in self-defence, resulting in gunshot injuries to all five shooters.

The injured suspects were rushed to a private super-specialty hospital, where doctors declared four of them dead on arrival. The fifth suspect survived the shooting and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The three injured police officers were also immediately hospitalised. Officials confirmed that their condition is being closely monitored by doctors.

Following the shootout, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Hitesh Yadav and DCP (East) Sandeep Kumar reached the spot to oversee the situation. Scene-of-crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams were also deployed to conduct technical inspections and gather evidence.

In an official statement, the police said that the identities and criminal records of the deceased and injured suspects, along with details of the recovered weapons, will be shared following verification. The police added that strict action will be taken against any criminal attempting to instill fear among the public.
