Four Dead and Ten Injured as Four-Storey Building Collapses in Saket

Four people were killed and ten others were injured after a four-storey commercial building collapsed in Saket, South Delhi, near the Saket Metro station on Saturday evening. Disaster response teams had pulled 14 people from the rubble by Sunday morning, May 31, 2026.
Among the injured is 25-year-old Ksitij Pratap, a resident of Noida. The victims, the majority of whom were medical students, were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where four were pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to the police, many of the victims were eating inside a kitchen set up on a neighbouring plot to cater to local students. The kitchen was crushed when heavy debris from the collapsing four-storey structure crashed down onto it.
One of the deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Ravi. Along with Ksitij Pratap of Noida, the police identified seven other injured individuals: Tarun Kumar (26) of Gurugram, Saika Khan (27) of Bihar, Neelam Yadav (25), Aditya Sharma (24), and Aastha (25) of Saidullajab, as well as Anuj Dikshi (25) and Vishal (24) of Saket.
The collapsed building was a commercial property housing several private offices on its first and second floors, as well as a medical students' coaching centre. Officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) noted that a fifth floor was under construction at the time of the collapse.
An FIR has been registered regarding the incident, and the owner of the building has been called in for questioning by the police.
Search and rescue operations were launched on a war footing on Saturday evening, with rescue operators initially pulling 12 people from the debris. The operation is being carried out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), DFS, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), CATS, Civil Defence, local police, and local residents.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the situation is being closely monitored and every possible effort is being made to safely rescue anyone who might still be trapped under the debris.
