Four arrested for abusing female officer at Fatak Telian in Chandni Mahal

Delhi Police have arrested four men for allegedly obstructing and misbehaving with a female booth-level officer (BLO) during an electoral roll survey at Fatak Telian in the Chandni Mahal area of Delhi. The incident took place on July 5 while the officer was carrying out her official duties.
The complainant, who is a postgraduate teacher of special education, was deployed as a BLO during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. According to the police, she filed a complaint detailing the harassment she faced while conducting the survey at Fatak Telian.
In her complaint, the teacher alleged that while she was performing her official duties, one of the accused men placed the BLO register on her lap and signed it despite her clear objections. She further alleged that several other persons present at the spot abused her, refused to accept the SIR forms, and behaved in a manner that humiliated her.
According to the complainant, the hostile behavior of the accused persons prevented her from discharging her official responsibilities. The incident was eventually reported to the police on July 15, resulting in a delay of ten days.
The complainant explained to investigators that the delay in reporting the matter was due to consultations with her senior officers regarding the appropriate course of action to take following the incident. She initially approached the additional district magistrate (ADM) to report the harassment.
The ADM then informed the police authorities about the situation. Following the verification of the complaint and an examination of the available material, the police established that a prima facie case existed.
A case was registered at the Chandni Mahal police station. Following the registration of the case, Delhi Police arrested the four men accused of obstructing and misbehaving with the public servant.
