Former Guard Arrested for Rs 1.4 Lakh Theft at Dwarka Sector 20 Restaurant

Delhi Police have arrested a 30-year-old former security guard in connection with a theft of around Rs 1.4 lakh from a restaurant in Dwarka Sector 20. Officials confirmed that the stolen cash has been recovered from his possession.

The incident was reported on August 10, when restaurant staff discovered that cash amounting to approximately Rs 1.4 lakh had been taken from the cash counter. Following the report, a case was registered under relevant theft provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 23 Dwarka police station, and a dedicated team was formed to investigate the matter.

Investigators scrutinized CCTV footage installed within the restaurant and across the surrounding vicinity to identify the culprit. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh stated that footage revealed a suspect with his face covered by a cloth committing the theft inside the premises.

Through further technical and manual investigation, police identified the suspect as Sunil Rajat, a resident of Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh. Rajat had previously worked as a security guard at the establishment.

During questioning, Rajat confessed to his involvement in the burglary. Police subsequently recovered the entire stolen amount from him. Further verification of his background revealed that he had prior criminal involvement in another theft case registered at the Sector 23 Dwarka police station.
