Food Safety Team Inspects KFC Outlet in Gaur City Mall Over Maggot Complaint

Food Safety Team Inspects KFC Outlet in Gaur City Mall Over Maggot Complaint

The Food Safety Department launched an inspection at a KFC outlet located inside Gaur City Mall in Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh, on September 6, 2026. The regulatory inspection was triggered after a customer claimed to have found a maggot inside a piece of fried chicken served at the shopping mall branch.

The issue came to light after an X user, posting under the handle @averycommonman1, shared a picture and video clips online showing what appeared to be a maggot inside the deep-fried chicken. The customer stated that the food item had been served as ready-to-eat at the Gaur City Mall outlet, with the shared video clearly showing the insect inside the chicken piece.

The social media post quickly gained widespread attention and went viral on X, drawing strong reactions online and raising serious concerns and questions over food quality and safety standards at the fast-food establishment.

The incident also caught the attention of KFC India, which responded directly to the customer's social media post. The company apologised for the disappointment caused and asked the diner to provide order details so that its team could get in touch and address the issue.

"Hi, our apologies for the disappointment caused. Please drop in your order ID so our team can contact you to address your concern," KFC India said in its direct response to the user.

Taking cognisance of the matter following the online circulation of the footage, a team from the Food Safety Department reached the KFC outlet inside Gaur City Mall to begin an inspection. Food Safety Officer Sarvesh Kumar confirmed that departmental officials visited the concerned store to conduct checks after the viral video alleged that a worm was found in the deep-fried chicken.

Sarvesh Kumar stated that the Food Safety Department team is thoroughly checking the quality of food items, raw materials, and other arrangements at the KFC restaurant. He added that officials are also actively trying to contact the person who originally shared the video, noting that further action will be taken once the inspection is completed.
